My doctor said stage II. What does that mean in plain language?

Stage II usually means the cancer is larger than stage I, or has reached nearby tissue or lymph nodes, but has not spread farther. Treatment often focuses on controlling it where it is. Ask your care team: What options fit my type and stage? What side effects should I expect? How will we know the plan is working?
